Problem opening spybot

I set spybot to scan on program start, resolve and close on its own so I can schedule it to run while im not home.

Something happened that caused spybot to freeze during the search but because every time I open it, it starts to search. I can never get into the program without it freezing.

I couldnt uninstall either because it starts the scan. I tried deleting all the files and when I reinstalled the settings were the same and it started to scan.

Can anyone give me any ideas on what I can do?

Try navigating to the Configuration.ini file.
It should be located here:
  • Windows 95 or 98:
  • C:\Windows\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy
  • Windows ME:
  • C:\Windows\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy
  • Windows NT, 2000 or XP:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy
  • Vista:
  • C:\ProgramData\Spybot - Search & Destroy
I'm not sure about Windows 7,but I think it is also located here:
C:\ProgramData\Spybot - Search & Destroy
Rightclick on the Configuration.ini file,and using the 'Open With' option,open it with Notepad.Scroll down to the [Automation\ProgramStart] part.It should look like this:
[Automation\ProgramStart]
AutoCheck=1
AutoFix=1
RerunAfterFix=0
AutoImmunize=0
DontAsk=0
WaitStart=0
WaitPrograms=0
WaitMore=0

If the AutoCheck part is set to 1,please change it to 0.Should look like this,afterwards:
[Automation\ProgramStart]
AutoCheck=0
AutoFix=0 <------You can change this to 0 if you like also,that's up to you.
RerunAfterFix=0
AutoImmunize=0
DontAsk=0
WaitStart=0
WaitPrograms=0
WaitMore=0

Then click File at the top of the Notepad window,and select Save.See if you can open Spybot without it starting a scan after that.hth.
