AS stands for antispyware, I believe. AS shows as Active when the Scanner Service is running.
I have a big ole rather complicated thread about it on page 2 here:

It's never been totally "Oh, yes, AS:Active is this.", it's more of a "well, I don't know, but I shut off this and this and it showed AS
ff, so then I looked at this and that file, and the description said it was....." kind of a thing. I get into all that about halfway down the second page.
