Smitfraud and Security Protection

I had Security Protection Malware and I think I have finally gotten rid of it.

However, Spybot keeps telling me over and over again that I have Smitfraud-C GP. I remove it, do a scan and it comes back. I have tried to remove it via safe mode and nothing seems to work.

Can anyone tell me how to remove it?

SMITFRAUD and Security Protection?

I have tried just about everything. I have done the manual deletion of SP and the auto removal (using another SPYWARE product).

I am at my wits end. My computer ran fine for about an hour this afternoon. This evening I go on to see if anyone has replied and BOOM, SP is back with a vengeance.

Does anyone have any advice?

Btw, not that it may make a difference, but I have donated to SPYBOT twice, including just yesterday.

Hopefully my bucks will buy me a cure. :cowboy:

So that everyone is on the same track please see the forum FAQ which also includes instructions for posting preliminary DDS logs for analysis in post #2.
"BEFORE You POST"(Please read this Procedure Before Requesting Assistance)

Then start a new topic providing the DDS logs as shown in that sticky and a link back to this thread. A volunteer analyst will advise you when available. :)

Also please do not add additional posts to your new topic as helpers look for ones with no response.

Download to your desktop DDS from one of the links below:

  • Double click the tool to run it.
  • If a black Screen opens, just read the contents and do nothing.
  • When the tool finishes, it will open 2 reports, DDS.txt and attach.txt
  • Copy/Paste the contents of 'DDS.txt' into your post.
  • 'attach.txt' should be zipped using Windows native zip utility and attached to your post. Compress and uncompress files (zip files)

But the DDS logs were not provided, only the top of the Spybot-S&D log.

Our volunteer helpers need the complete DDS log to analyze. If you are not sure what a DDS log looks like please check out another member's topic. :flowers:
