Smitfraud-C. removal assistance needed

I think I have "Smitfraud-C." on my computer. I ran Spybot S&D version 1.3, it found Smitfraud-C. but could not remove it. I downloaded Spybot S&D 1.4, last detection 9-22-2006, and it seemed to incdcate that it removed Smitfraud-C., but the desktop blue screen and balloon pops from the windows tray (directing me to antispyware software for sale) continues.

I'm running Windows XP SP2 (version 5.1).

Thanks. I found and removed all of the HJT items listed. I downloaded and ran avg antirootkit as instructed, but it did not find any rootkits (so there were no results to save). The blue screen and pop ups windows tray continue. ???

1. Download this file - combofix.exe

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Delete smithfraudfix (if you still have it) and redownload then run it while the pc is in safe mode using option 2, afterwards run Ewido again.(not need for its log this time)

I followed the instructions. The reports and logs are below. I think that Smitfraud-C. may be gone from my machine (My desktop is blank and the windows tray pop ups are no longer showing up.)

You didnt post what was found for gaeuttoa.exe, go scan again please

Next Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Display. Click on the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button. Click on the Web tab. Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button. Click Ok then Apply and Ok.

Go ahead and delete combofix and smithfraudfix, if ever needed again they would have probaly been changed.

Think Prevention: Put in place a good hosts file

Repeat that proccess about once or twice a month
