Spybot and AVG not updating

Hi there, just wondering if somebody give me some advice. I had AVG 7.5 until a few weeks ago until it ran out and i (stupidly) didnt get new protection for a short while. I believe i now have a virus on my computer as when i try to load WIEx the page just doesnt do anything. I deleted cookies and temp files and restarted and this allowed me to access the net and download AVG free 8.5 and Stopzilla but I cant update the files. After using the net for a short while the problem with WIEx happens again.

With AVG i get a messege saying 'server will not allow updates' and with stopzilla the update seems to just keep running. I left it to update overnight and it just kept updating with nothing happening.

Can anyone help me? I only have basic computer knowledge but can manage most things with instructions

hi tashi, thanks for your reply.

i followed the link to download ERUNT and downloaded Regcure, and it comes up with a scan screen with a load of tickbox options but no boxes where i can choose 'System Registry' only. Am i doing something wrong? I ran the scan then it asked me to purchase the full Regcure, do I have to do this?

Please back up your registry!

  • Download ERUNT
  • Save it to your desktop. Run and install this program.
  • In the box that opens ONLY choose "System registry"
  • Click OK.
  • Click save and then go to File > Exit.

On reflection, as we have no idea what the infection is doing to the PC, could you attempt to download and run HJT please.

Yes I clicked the ERUNT link and it led me to a downloadpage which downloaded Regcure.

Ok, il do the HJT log before doing anything else
