Spybot closes when. . .

Whenever I try to click on update within spybot, the program closes immediately. Nothing else happens, the app just closes without updating or anything.

I un-installed and re-installed and am still getting the same thing. Has anyone else heard of this or seen this happen to them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Since your problem seems to be somewhat unusual, it would be helpful if you provide some additional information such as:
  • The version of Spybot you are running.
  • The Windows OS of your system.
  • If you installed Spybot in the default directory of:
    • C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy
  • As well as any additional information (factors/things) that you can think of that could/would make your installation of Spybot different from a normal installation.
 
Thanks for the response.

Right after I posted this, I started getting all kinds of craziness. It turned out I had virtumonde. After getting rid it, i can run the internal update no problem.
