Spybot doesn't execute anymore after update

Hey!

Just like the title says Spybot isn't working anymore. Downloaded the lasted updates and Spybot tries to start up (the progress bar at the start completely fills), but Spybot will not start up and Task manager shows it doesn't respond (actually 2 SPoybot programs aren't respond, when checking Task Manager, but I guess one is progress bar at start-up and the other the actual window for Spybot).

I tried everything. Reinstalled SPybot (after I completed deleted Spybot), installed older versions of Spybot, downloaded the updates seperate from the website.
I only get Spybot working without the detection files. So I can not scan for malicious files.
Btw, Malwarebytes' doesn't show anything and I'm using Avira Antivir.

So, can I need help. This is getting quit frustrating. Many thanx in advance.

Hello,

I have the same problem. Yesterday I updated the various malware definitions (there were 5 or 6 new files of them). There was also a file concerning (from memory...) 'startup something", which wasn't checked by default.
I checked that file too and downloaded the updates.

Unfortunately, after that, Spybot S&D wouldn't restart... takes forever to load, and doesn't load in the end...

Anything can be done? Reverting the updates maybe?

The same for me..hung in loading

I have been trying for 3 days. I even renamed and used the scr file.
Working on a friends computer.

I have the same problem. Sounds like a problem with the updates. The updates are causing a memory hog on low memory system as well and won't start up.

I am going to try it again and not install secure shred and see if that makes a difference.
 
The secure shred is not a problem.

I finally got it working. Not installing one update.

iMost Up-to-date Detections! 3MB 2010-2-4
