Spybot Quits when I Check for Problems

Spybot Quits right after I hit Check for Problems.
It displays at the bottom (status bar, I guess) the word "Unknown" for half a second and exits the program.

any help!?

Let us know the version and latest detection update.

Also it would be helpful to know:

2) Security programs you have installed.

3) Operating System. (ie: XP, 98 etc)

:cool: I've been experiencing similar problems, after having previously had Spybot performing without a hitch.
I first tried launching Spybot S&D for a routine scan, and the window never came up. After several tries, the SS&D window came up, but as soon as I clicked the "Search for Problems" button, SS&D just shut down ... no, it didn't freeze ... it was as if I simply closed the window myself! :confused:
The next thing I tried was removing SS&D and reinstalling it again. On the first attempt, the window closed itself as soon as the download completed! I finally got SS&D reinstalled, and got the updates. Once again, I got SS&D launched, but as soon as I clicked the "Search for Problems" button, SS&D just shut down again, all by itself. :mad:
I have no idea what is going on .... is there malware out there that targets security software and shuts it down?
*** My system parameters***
Dual Athlon CPUs
1 GB DDR RAM
Two Maxtor 180GB HDDs
Windows XP Professional, SP2 (slipstream installation)
CA EZTrust antivirus
ZoneLabs firewall
Spybot S&D, AdAware, HijackThis, Pocket Killbox

i also have this problem when i click fix problems:( :( :(

windows xp profesional
spybot,ad-aware,hijack this, microsoft anti spyware
