Spybot takes hours to run

I am experiencing a problem where Spybot is taking about 8 hours to run the check.

I recall I had a similar problem back at the beginning of April, and a solution was posted that fixed the problem.

But I can't find the old posts dealing with the topic. Does anyone recall how to fix this problem?

I have found that most incidences of slow scanning are due to one of two factors, either a laptop that needs cleaning or malware.

In your previous post you had experienced an infection which once removed cleared up your slow scan speed.

I suggest you do the following because a scan taking eight hours is not at all normal.
