I was chatting with a knowledgeable fellow the other day, and he blithely declared that a web browser is a very simple thing to assemble. 'Even you could do it,' he said. Ignoring the obvious low opinion he has of my abilities (since I must admit that his evaluation is largely correct) I sat and thought (a painful process) about it for a bit, and it occurred to me that a Spybot web browser would eliminate ninety-nine percent of the problems we encounter daily. Just think, a browser written by an unimpeachably trustworthy team, incorporating within its architecture all of the defences required to defeat The Evil Things, and provision for logical expansion and deployment of improved defences. A beautiful dream, what? Could it ever become a reality?
