Spybot will not start on system start

I got a whole mess of nasty spyware on my computer. I finally got most of it off except for one item that requires Spybot to start up after a reboot. Soybot used to do this, but it just quit working. I also noticed that Ad-Aware also will not start up this way. Any ideas?
 
When you schedule Spybot to "Run program once at next system startup" the following entry is added to the system registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
"SpybotSnD"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Spybot - Search & Destroy\\SpybotSD.exe\""
The user that attempts to add that entry must have authority to add that entry.

As an alternative you could reboot your system in Safe mode, run Spybot-S&D while in Safe mode and see if you can fix the problems that Spybot detected.

If Spybot-S&D still fails to remove the problems, consider requesting assistance in the Malware Removal forum.

It does not work in safe mode or normal mode. It asks if I want it to run on the next startup, I say yes and it does not run after rebooting. This used to work.

I have completely uninstalled Spybot and reinstalled it and it still does not work. Ad-Aware also does not run on syatem start when it should.
