I have an older PC that's been shutdown for about a year since I built my new machine. I just recently fired it up to prepare it for a gift. It has spybot version 1.6.0.30. I hit the update button and all the definitions and things seem to update them self, but not the actual version of S&D. Is there some way to fix this, or should I just do a fresh install?

You should download Spybot 1.6.2 setup manually and make a fresh install.
