New Bug Spyboy Search and Destroy incompatible with Easy Anti Cheat

I purchased the professional license for a couple years in a row now for Spybot Search and Destroy. In the last year there is now a compatibility problem when using Live Protection and trying to run games that use Easy Anti Cheat, particularly on Steam.

Examples of games I cannot get to run are: Rust, Steel Hunters, Paladins, Watchdogs 2, Deceit, and Elden Ring. This is not a complete list of games I can't get to run, but just some of the ones from recent memory. I did find a link that shows all Steam games that utilize Easy Anti Cheat here: https://steamdb.info/tech/AntiCheat/EasyAntiCheat/

The problem is that each of these games gives the same error when trying to launch them. "Please use 64bit version of the game". That error window will stay open and the game will at first appear to launch but then all these games eventually give the error that they can't authenticate with Easy Anti Cheat.

Initially I had no idea why this problem started happening until I realized last year that it was due to the installation of Spybot Search and Destroy. The problem goes away when turning OFF Live Protection in SS&D. The problem is, I don't want to turn off live protection on any of my security software, and previous to 2024, I never had to do this. Not sure if this is part of some newer update, but never the less it renders all of these games unplayable.

Are there any workarounds to this or is this something that Spybot intends to address? If not then I will be forced to go with a different set of security software that isn't going to render half my Steam library unplayable.

I am using the latest version Spybot - Search & Destroy + AV 2.9.85.2 on Win 11 Pro

Thank you!

We tried contacting Easy Anti-Cheat regarding this issue, but so far have had no response :(

Will try contact again for an update on this.
