Start up tools-Hosts

Hi,
Can anyone give me some info on Start Tools-Hosts,
I seem to have hundreds of them, Can I delete them, where Do they come from?
I'm sorry if this an oft repeated question, I have tried to look at FAQs but can't find anything.
it's taken me half an hour plus to get this far!

If the sites have 127.0.0.1 listed beside them,then they are likely just part of Spybot's immunization,and nothing to worry about.I will show a screenshot of mine,some of the sites might match the ones you see.

Sites are added to your hosts file by Spybot as part of immunization.An explanation of how that works is shown in the last paragraph here:
