System restore help?

Hi,
I have the following issue with trying to check the status of my system restore feature.

on the system restore tab, the option to turn off the restore is faded out and the following message is display next to the check item box in parenthesis.

"turn off system restore (disabled by Group Policy)"

What does this mean and how did it happened? can I reverse this?

Please help with any insight. thank you in advance.

Is there a group administrator that controls group policies for your system?

Hi again

I have windows xp professional version 2002 on a lenovo 3000 n100.

And I am the only person using this laptop so I guess I am the administrator.

No one else has accesss to my computer.
