Torrents compared to P2P

while Torrent clients are still a method of P2P i have found that the files are 99.9% clean.(never got a bad file just reluctant to say 100%)

Do the Admins here advise against Programs such as Bitcomet and Azerus?
or when you guys talk about p2p programs are we refering to things like Kazaa and Limewire? (which are obviously full of malware).

i had already read all the faq's upon my first view of this website. I was wondering about specific P2P programs. Bitcomet can be used for tasks other than piracy... while i do admit that Torrents are usually for priating, i use it as a download manager and to up and down to my FTP. occasionally i will obtain other files, but i have never recieved a corrupted or malicious file using torrents. Limewire and Kazaa on the other hand.... about 75% of files are in fected and i realize that.

P.S. working on a MCSE here, wouldnt do anything to jeapordize that :)

I do use torrents for huge number of music downloading(In game songs). Most of them are clean. I've tried Limewire before and I've gotten viruses before from there. :sad:
 
You mean the in game songs?? Those songs that are playing in the background when you are playing some kind of games.

Guess I am unclear as why one would have to download music via torrent when playing a game.

Although chewdz might not have meant music as in media from artists, he could have meant music files that were an optional component to some video game. Like the music file was not in a .mp3 or .m4a format but rather some game format, that requires the game to open it.

ya i love torrent files. most site admins keep it very clean(data wise), if you get a good one that is! as far as the game songs go....try bink audio formatter.....typically will add any song u have to any game that is not using .mp3 or wma. i.e need for speed franchise, all done with bink.

Add?? Meaning to the media player? I came across a few sites that offer in game songs download, they claimed that they "extracted" it from the sound file of the game. Is that possible? What software is used? :confused:
 
Bittorent itself is a great platform for sharing data and can dramatically increase download speeds of large files - For example, downloading OpenOffice from their servers (although pretty quick) is still slower than downloading the torrent version. Likewise for downloading linux iso's.

It's not the protocol itself that is bad, its the questionable content that people upload which is tingeing this otherwise good platform.

OT: I recently saw some statistics showing that over the last week, a surge of people have been searching for 'Michael Jackson' (RIP) on torrent sites, placing him number two in the search ranks. Number one of course, was aXXo! Not even the King of Pop can topple this guy...(or gal) :red:
 
Torrentreactor Website compromised.

The site has been injected with an IFrame leading to a site laden with exploits. The exploits on the payload site include Internet Explorer (MDAC) and Microsoft Office Snapshot Viewer, as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Shockwave.
