Unable to launch spybot

After downloading spybot when I click to launch it nothing happens and no message appears. This also happens with an Avira program I have downloaded.I have Windows XP and use Firefox search engine. I have been infected with trojan XP Total Security. Any help much appreciated.

Someone can assist after taking a look at the system.

Please see this FAQ "BEFORE You POST"(Please read this Procedure Before Requesting Assistance) It includes instructions in post #2 on how to provide a preliminary DDS log, which is used for analysis.

Then start a new topic in the Malware Removal Forum and a volunteer will advise when available.

If the infection prevents a log being produced please start a new topic there anyway and let them know.

unable to launch Spybot or anything!

thank you for reply. Have attempted to follow the notes before you post. However cannot launch ERUNT either. Like Spybot and Avira have downlowded them and then cannot launch. I am asked whether I am sure I want to launch and I click yes but nothing at all happens. This of course means I can't follow your back up instructions. Any ideas please?
