Unable to open Spybot to scan

i have spyware and downloaded spybot, but the spyware won't allow me to open/run spybot or any other spyware program (kasperksy) i've tried to install. the only one i was able to open and successfully scan with was ad-aware, which said it removed all the threats, but it obviously didn't. please help!

i have windows XP, IE7 and firefox. i'm not sure how relevant it is, but i was using firefox when i got the infection and when i downloaded spybot.

Please see instructions in this link: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) to download HiJackThis (HJT).

Skip the Spybot-S&D scan for now.

If you find you cannot run HJT, rename HijackThis.exe to mocha0030.exe and see if that works to produce the log.

Then start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum and a helper will advise you as soon as available.
