Unable to update Spybot S&D

I am suddenly unable to update Spybot S&D. No list of sites is offered any more. Adaware is similarly affected. Could this be the result of some malicious program?
 
What version of Spybot-S&D are you running?
Please go into Spybot > Help > About.
  • Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.3.
  • Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4.
  • etc.
Also from that same display, what is the date of the "Latest detection update" that you have?

Please describe what you observe after you click "Search for updates". Are you getting any error messages? How long between the time you click "Search for updates" and any error messages appear?

The update process starts by downloading the spybotsd.ini file from one of these two (2) sites:
If you are unable to download that file, there will be "No list of sites is offered any more" because that file contains the available mirror update sites.
