update trouble

When I click the search for updates tab the pop up tells me no newer updates are available, yet I know there are. I have 1.2 on my computer. I have 1.3 on my office computer. Both advise no new updates yet I am under the impression version 1.4 is available. I suppose I could uninstall current versions and just install 1.4 but is there an easier way to have update work!

1.2 hasn't been updating since 1.3 released in May of 2004 due to drastic changes in the update system.

The integrated update only performs detections updates at present, not program updates. Sounds like you know where these are, go get em'!

Personally, I never have and haven't had any problems. However, others here do recommend uninstall since some people have had problems and I've actually never skipped from 1.2 to 1.4 without 1.3 in between.

What I usually recommend is to try the upgrade over the existing version if it has been stable, since you can always uninstall the newer version and try it again. The uninstall does remove some items such as logs, though it will keep the Recovery folder as a protection against loosing that information.
