using 98SE IE 6.0 I click Scan and get update
click update and it loads half way with the
message no newer update and I can't get
any further? help
 
Do you mean you get a message when you start a scan with Spybot that you have to install the detection updates first?Have you just newly installed Spybot?

I had a problem before where my firewall blocked the Spybot updater without me knowing.Which firewall do you use?

Also,which version of Spybot do you have?You can tell by opening Spybot,clicking Help,then About.
