URGENT Help Required!

Hi everyone, my first post here and am in need of urgent help!

There's this program (I cant even find its name) that has hooked itself up on to my system and keeps giving me these Malware threats and Spyware threats as well as Virus threats (which even my up-to-date anti-virus is not giving) by displayed a QUESTION MARK and an EXCLAIMATION MARK in my system tray and when I click on it, it takes me to http://www.virusburst.com/?aff=334 which is a website offering VirusBurst (an anti-spyware program). I cannot even find anything in the Add/Remove Programs area in control panel or a folder anywhere to get this thing off of my system.

Then I used SpyBot but SpyBot performed a search and came up with something called DSO Exploit and Backweb Lite but it says they are 5 entries of each which are Registry Values and Keys, not Tracker Cookies. My SpyBot program is not even giving me the option "Description of this Product" so that I can check what these two things (DSO Exploit and Backweb Lite) are and if I can safely remove them or not.

ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
 
What operating system do you have?And what version of Spybot do you have?If you're not sure,you can open Spybot,click Help,then About.
 
Windows XP Service Pack 2. The SpyBot version is one from 2004 but I updated it using the option in the program.

How do I get rid of the thing that keeps popping up? And what is DSO Exploit and Backweb Lite?
 
DSO exploit is something Spybot 1.3 used to find,but I'm looking in Spybot 1.4 and it doesn't look like it detects it anymore.(you don't need to worry about dso exploit).Spybot 1.3 didn't update the program through checking for updates.I think you might have an older version of Spybot.Could you look in Help,About? :)
There's a place on this forum where you can get help with the thing that keeps popping up,if Spybot doesn't remove it,but you should have Spybot 1.4 version.
 
Yes its Spybot 1.3 that I am using. I will install 1.4 version now but this program that has hooked itself up to my computer has become annoying. It gives me these fake warnings about my system being infected with this or that virus, malware, spyware and tries to get me to buy the software it is promoting. Its a nuisance.

I'd appreciate it if you can pinpoint what exactly I have to do to get rid of this program. Thanks
 
I think I have taken out some of the malware but somehow it keeps over-riding my browser's homepage (set to Google) and instead of my homepage takes me to http://safeiepage.com/ how do I get rid of this?

If you follow the instructions in the first link above,it will help you get set up to post your logs and ask for help in the malware removal forum.Then a helper should come along and help you after a few days.That's the section of the forum you would want to go to,to get help with your homepage problem.
