.uti file instead of an e-mail attachment

Hi all:

A friend of mine receives messages from her bank, saying that her statement is attached and that she can open it with a PDF viewer. But the only attachments in these messages are .uti files.

Is there a way for her to get the actual statement files instead of these .uti files?
