Virtumonde and fake virus program

It appears that I may have Vitrumonde and some sort of adware that keeps telling me I have a virus and to buy their sortware. I ran both Kapersky and HJT. Here is the Kas report.

You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.

While I am not 100% certian, this C:\WINDOWS\system32\winsys2.exe <<< is probably this:

If you wish to clean this infection, we will try with HJT first.

C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< return here and rename HJT.exe, call it bmitche2.exe that will work. After a reboot we may see the Vundo infection if it is hiding?

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

4) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart and post a new HJT log and some feedback from you.

Well I followed your directions and erased all the files stated. Here is my HJT report. I haven't gotten that annoying "you have such and such virus" yet, so hopefully this has done it. Spybot is still finding virtumonde, but at least thats it.

Understand that Spybot will almost always delete what it finds IF the program is up to date and fully immunized. Here are my numbers:
Spybot Console > Help > About: 1.5.2.20 Latest detection update: 2008-04-02

You have a few infected System Restore files showing in the first KOS so run a new scan to check for anything else, and use these settings.
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here.

I scanned that file and it was clean. I don't understand what you mean with all the setting changes. I don't see them on Spybot. Are you talking about another program?

System Restore made a backup as is the nature of the tool, do this:
Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot

Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
