Virtumonde / webpage redirection

Hello,

Spybot seems to be unable to remove Virtumonde from my system. I attempted to run it in safe mode, but got only a blank screen -- no start menu, nothing. The HijackThis log is below, but the Kaspersky online scan wouldn't run:

Thanks for the feedback, virtually nothing showing in the HJT log. What do you mean Kaspersky wouldn't run? Please do this:

C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< rename HJT.exe, call it kate8.exe, then restart the computer and create and post a new HJT log. The hackers have leaned to hide their junk, this usually shows it.

Thanks for returning your information and you can see the Vundo infection now. It can be tough to remove, but we will get it. Before we start I want to comment that much of the stuff Kaspersky found is stored in the quarantine folder of your antivirus program:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Quarantine\ <<< delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Clean that area and hopefully we will kill the rest of the junk and your next Kaspersky scan will be clean.

C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01\ <<< BADLY out of date and likely why you are infected. Download the newest version of Java and uninstall ALL old version in Add Remove Programs.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.

• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Thanks, combofix got some of it but we have a tough Vundo file:

Notice the BHO and the 020 Winlogon. The fact the item logs in so early is why they are so hard to remove. I would appreciate it if you would follow these instructions to upload that file so it can be added to the fix:

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com
File to upload: C:\WINDOWS\System32\nnnlk.dll

Once you do that the follow these instructions:

Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box
above the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the
next window opens, copy and paste the files into the boxes and click on Add
File(s), then click on Close Window. Then click Remove Vundo.

Once again the file to add: C:\WINDOWS\System32\nnnlk.dll

Then post the Vundofix report and a new HJT log and hopefully we will be able to finish the cleanup.

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

3) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

You may rename HJT if you wish, then delete all vundofix includes c:\Vundofix Backups and all combofix includes C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\ folder <<< just yesterday the creator of combofix had an issue with system32 files, before you delete the quarantine folder have a look to see if anything looks unusual in it. If you are not sure, leave it for now and post the contents for me to look.

You can run the Kaspersky now, I really do not need to see a clean scan result, only if you have questions.

First let me say your HJT log looks clean of malware:bigthumb: Then I noticed these two items I missed (old eyes:sad in an earlier Kaspersky scan.
If that is what you see in the new one, then do this:

C:\Program Files\AskPBar\ <<< delete that folder (check first in Add Remove Programs to make sure it can not be uninstalled)

C:\WINDOWS\oxillrwl.exe <<< delete that file

If there are others, and you can figure out how to post them, do so. If not post the complete Kaspersky scan result...that's why we ran it

Okay, deleted the file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\bawkrjwe.dll ) and cleared the system restore, then ran another Kaspersky. Almost clean:
