Warning! spyware detected on your computer!

my background has changed and now has banner with the words

"Warning! spyware detected on your computer!
Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer."

I am unable to change this

there doesnt appear to be anything else wrong with the laptop.

please can you advise me how to fix this
