After i had 'that' MBAM problem from a few weeks ago,a friend took my PC away to fix it.
PC is running fine,no problems at all except when i try to update windows i get a message saying i need to pay £94 before it will update.
Thanks Shelf Life.
After speaking to him he said he used my original windows and everything should be as normal.
Is there anyway i can check for myself to see if i still have my original windows?
I got the same message plus this "The Windows product key installed on this computer was not assigned by Microsoft. You may be a victim of counterfeit software.
Thanks for your help, shelf life.Unfortunately after reading your link and down loading the plug ins i still fail the verification test.
I still have my original windows CD if i put that in my PC would that be problem solved or is it not as simple as that?
I believe what you need is the product id key. There could be other reasons why it wont pass activation. If you have the original installation media then this is a good sign. In my experience using a installation CD/DVD for a single license requires that a product id key be entered during the install process. You might find a product key on the media case or even maybe a sticker stuck to your computer case.
If its a commercially purchased computer then you should definitely visit the vendors web site first- which may have solutions for scenarios like yours, reinstalling the OS, activation etc
There are some other options via MS here.
