Hi All,

I've installed a local server that needs to write to the "host" file.
The local server uses 127.0.0.1
Spybot blocks entry and writing to this file.

How can I deal with this issue and allow legitimate programs to write to the "host"?

Thanks,

You could go to the contact form and ask for help from Team Spybot. Please scroll down to the Request Help section:

Spybot does not block entry and writing to the hosts file. Are you using the Free Edition or a licensed Edition?

Do you Immunize with Spybot?

How did you notice the blocking? What told you Spybot does it?

Spybot will detect redirects of important domains and remove the redirection, to avoid malware redirecting e.g. your bank. But this is limited to specific public domains. Let us know which domains are you adding to check this.

Spybot adds a begin and an end comment line to the hosts file, and everything between these two will get removed when Spybot updates its own entries (applied e.g. by the immunization). Is your server writing into this block (which would be unusual, but still...)?
