"You need to install the detection updates"

I have just downloaded and installed Spybot S&D 1.4 to a laptop with Windows 98SE. When I try to run Check for Problems, I get the error message "You need to install the detection updates by using the integrated updater or the manual updater". At Search for Updates, I receive the message "No newer updates available". At Help>About is the notation "No detection updates installed". Clearly, there is something I haven't done that I need to do. Looking through Tools, Settings, and the Help file, I don't find anything about how to "install detection updates". I have rebooted. Also running on my machine is Zone Alarm Pro and Norton AntiVirus. I did not install Tea Timer because I wasn't sure what it is. I may install it now, but first I would like to be able to "Check for Problems". Thanks for your help.

Before you run your first scan you need to install the detection updates first.

Just download and run that file - it is self-installing.
