Default Why is spybot set to ignore certain items?

As per the title. I was wondering about this is as it's not clear that spybot will ignore certain items (cdzilla plus other i can't remember) by default. I only thought to look at all, because I read somewhere that spybot would ignore newdotnet by default (doesn;t seem to be the case anymore -thankfully)
Is it because spybot has been threatened with legal action (ie, newdotnet vs ad-aware) or is there some other reason?
Is there a list of all such products that spybot has sigs for, but ignores by default?
