I have finally installed Windows XP pro (SP2) a few weeks ago after having worked on 2000pro for years.

I also always used S&D and never came across this problem.

Can anyone give me some details? I don't want to remove anything I might need:) .

This is the problem that came up:

Microsoft.Windows.Security.InternetExplorer: Settings (Registry change, nothing done)
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1060284298-854245398-682003330-1003\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN\iexplore.exe!=W=1

Have a look here:

From this thread:

Looks like msdn no longer has the linked page from that post,but this should be part of what was there:

Prior to Service Pack 2 the Local Machine zone allowed Web content to run with fewer restrictions since local content was considered to be secure. Unfortunately, attackers also try to take advantage of the Local Machine zone to elevate their privileges and compromise a computer."
