• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

Reversing Allowed Registry Changes

HI

Can anyone advise me how I go about reversing allowed registry changes. I have done this before but have just spent two hours trying to suss it out using help and exploring the menus and just can't crack it.

I probably can't see the wood for the trees. I'd be grateful for your help.

Thanks

Caz:)

If you are talking about reversing changes allowed via the "Allow change" button in TeaTimer’s pop-up dialog, you cannot reverse any Registry change decisions ("Allow change" or "Deny change") that you make with TeaTimer. You have to redo whatever you were doing so that the Registry change is done again (or manually edit the Registry).

If you checked "Remember this decision" on a change the information concerning that change it is stored in a file. To get Spybot to forget what you told it to remember you can right click on the TeaTimer system tray icon and select Settings. This brings up a window titled "White & Black List". There are four (4) buttons on this window:
  • Allowed processes
  • Blocked processes
  • Allowed registry changes
  • Blocked registry changes
If you don't see all four buttons, try expanding the window to the right.

By clicking on the various buttons you can review the stored entries were you used "Remember this decision" in the past. You can delete the stored entries by clicking on the scripted black "X" to the right of the entry that you want to delete and then clicking the "OK" button when you're done. This will in effect make TeaTimer forget what you told it to remember so that during future changes to these items TeaTimer will issue a pop-up dialog rather then just a notification pup-up. Deleting these entries will not reverse the changes that were made to the registry.

If you are talking about changes made while fixing problems after a scan and you want to back out those changes, go into Spybot > Recovery > select the items that you want to recover and click "Recover selected items".

Hello,

This is a little bug in version 1.4. We have already been able to locate and fix it. The fix will be downloadable with our next program upgrade. We hope that it will be available soon.
As a current solution you can work with your keyboard. Use the cursor keys to switch between the buttons ("Allow" is on the left, "Deny" on the right) and the space key to enter your selection. You can also press "A" on your keyboard for "Allow change" or "D" for "Deny change". The Checkbox for "Remember this decision" will work correctly in spite of the graphical issue. If you don't like to use the above workarounds you can disable TeaTimer as follows:
- Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident.
- Uncheck the following: Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.
For more information please have a look here:

And you'll find a little workaround here:
