My apologies for coming to the forums with a problem that I can't resolve. I'm fairly new to Spybot. I've installed it with all the defaults and just let it run. I do weekly scans and updates. However, I recently noticed strange computer behavior and have been investigating since. I've used NOD32 in the past but it was expired. While trying to contact the web site, my laptop wouldn't wouldn't allow me to access PERIOD. I tried everything and began to think the web site went down, company bankrupt, and all sorts of bad ideas. So, I uninstalled it and installed avast AntiVirus Professional. I was able to go to their web site. I also noticed Spybot was constantly trying to update some "processes" I believe is what it said. I didn't think nothing of it until I noticed it wasn't do anyting. (almost like it was stuck in a loop.) I think I was using version 1.60. I tried to access the safer-network.org site but could not get that one either. Now I was worried. I noticed that when ever I did a search with my default search engine, google, it was redirect to several sites and then it would wind up somewhere that I didn't type in. I find this with the microsoft search engine as well.
Now, I've ran the avast antiVirus and it said it found a trojan in a file and I deleted it. Not sure if the file was inportant and didn't care at this point. (gaopdxmvpcqprt.dll) My system says it's clean but I still can't access the spybot home page nor the ESET homepage. I had uninstalled spybot to upgrade to version 1.62 however, I get an error on the install stating, "the server name or address could not be resolved". This makes sense since I can't access the web site with a browser either. I don't fancy the idea reformatting but it IS an option. Can someone make a better suggestion? :red:
