The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "BetterSurf" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
BetterSurf displays advertisement in browsers and creates advertising pop-ups while the user is surfing.
Removal Instructions:

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\cnbinhimjjhinioakbdchcajeiinhdpn\1.1_0\icon.ico".
The file at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\cnbinhimjjhinioakbdchcajeiinhdpn\1.1_0\manifest.json".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If BetterSurf uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Folders:

The directory at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\cnbinhimjjhinioakbdchcajeiinhdpn\1.1_0".
The directory at "<$LOCALAPPDATA>\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\cnbinhimjjhinioakbdchcajeiinhdpn".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\MediaWatchV1".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If BetterSurf uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

Delete the registry key "{0CF26D91-B5A6-4B4D-83EF-E94D03D8E0A9}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{5BBAE995-AC82-48C4-B459-0391693F9F82}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
Delete the registry key "{5e51a9d7-8f6b-48e4-9b80-6d09d49a4a2b}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{5e51a9d7-8f6b-48e4-9b80-6d09d49a4a2b}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
Delete the registry key "MediaWatchV1" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
If BetterSurf uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=regalyzer), RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).

There are more registry entries that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.
