Conflicts?

I suspected there was malware on my PC and I installed AVG Anti-Malware 7.5. I preferred another anti-malware next to Spybot-SD and SpywareBlaster. When I installed AVG, it came with a 30-day trial Resident Shield. I already have AVG AV Free 7.5 with the Resident Shield active. I am wondering if the two Resident Shields will conflict. Cheers.

they shouldnt...

as a rule of thumb, 1 resident antiviruis good, 2 antispyware resident should be good as well depending. More then 2 resident antispyware residents (active protection) will cause conflicts. The 2 antispyware residents i run are teatimer (spybot sd helper system settings protector) and windows defender. They produce no conflicts running side by side on my machine. Other antispyware programs i have the resident's disabled. I would think your ok, try it and then do a system restore if all does not go well. ;)

Well, I removed AVG Anti-spy a week ago. I do plan to use it anyways >;D. I use Spybot-SD 1.5.2.20 and SpywareBlaster and AVG Free AV in my "arsenal". Thanks 129260. Cheers.

Great to know. :-)

I found it just... a difficult question even for me to answer . I have read articles about how two Resident Shields will conflict, but it never mentioned which one. I personally only use the IE BHO for Spybot-SD, because I found TeaTimer to be a bit... "sophisticated". Although, I found it detects much more than the Free Winpatrol 2007. I'm a very strict "resource" person, as I limit my Start-ups to 4 programs and I have three delayed, as I do not need them immediately.

ya i gotcha.

and wow about your startup, i never seen a system configured like that with very few startup items. Your system even if it would be old would boot instantly i bet. :bigthumb:

Great.

I much agree.:halo: I run 3.00 Ghz Pentium 4 Sony VAIO (Windows XP), to me is pretty old. I have been browsing through the malware removal section of this forum and saw around 20 start-up process on a user's PC and I though, how do you even manage this computer? I mean Vista may handle these processes, but a Windows XP?

129260, I would also like to know what is: Komodo BOCLEAN for? I mean it's specific purpose. I heard it was anti-malware or like a real-time "watcher" like a Resident Shield. *scratches head*. :fear:

A quick search indicates that it is just an antispyware program, with a resident shield. On the first page all the results were safe according to mcafee site advisor, therefore i believe it is a safe program. It also says people pronounce it different ways, so that might be why it can be known as one thing and then another. :)

Hahas, I would just prefer to stick for four, because would prefer a "fast" and well-organized system. :halo: HRm. 129260, I still do not understand what you meant about BOClean in the last thread. I was not really referring to SiteAdvisor, but just the functions of the program.

what i meant was...

it is a safe program. It is a legit antispyware program, not a rouge program. ;) so yeah thats what i meant haha. Remove or keep the program, whatever you decide.

Ah... but I did not really meant that either. I really meant the functions of the software. Is it like a Resident Shield? Thanks. :euro:

it says it offers

resident shield and scanning capabilities. did i answer u right now? lol. ;)

Ah, you did... >:D Hrm. I gave a test run, and I did not see any scanning capabilities. It's fine for now, I do not plan to download and install it anyway. Much thanks, 129260.
