Help !
I have all the symptoms of the coolwebsearch_smartkiller, I downloaded the tool to remove the bug, but the tool reports it cannot it. Perhaps there is a newer version of this bug and even newer removal tool. Got any Ideas?

Symptoms

First it disabled my spybot program.
2nd It stops spybot from updating in a new instalation.
3rd it redirects my brouser when I go to any spyware help page. or simply stops the page from loading.
I ran the miniremoval_coolwebsearch_smartliller tool, but is said it could not find this bug...

Tashi. Ok I had to download the Trend hijackthis to obtain a log onto thumb drive for the infected computer will not go to that page, However the hijack this program will not open on the infected computer, Therefore I cannot provide a log by that means, is there another method you could use? Sorry for the inconveince :)
 
Hello. You should rename the HJT .exe (the program itself) to something else.

Try renaming it to "geokenwit.exe". It should run.

That worked.. Thanks for the help.
I saved the log onto a jump drive then cut and pasted it into the new thread,, Now what ?
 
Waiting ?

While waiting, should I just turn off the infected computer, or attempt reinstallation of spybot...???
Or dose waiting mean .. DO NOTHING ? LOL..

A somewhat different opinion.

Unless you feel that using the system is a risk to exposing personal information, you can continue to use the system until someone responds to your Your Thread in the Malware Removal forum.

The important thing to remember is not to attempt any fixes while you are waiting. That may invalidate the HijackThis log that you posted and the malware removal specialist will be analyzing. This caution is outlined in the following posts:
