Spybot 1.6.2.46 will not update

My Spybot is refusing to react to the Update button. Never had this before.

I solved by upgrading to Version 2.0.

What was happening was if I hit the Update button, the cursor "wheel " would flash but that was all. Previously I at least got a message that it was up to date.

(I use Windows 7 64-bit Pro if that helps)
