I asked, in a ticket, about Spybot defeating or locking out Windows Defender. The reply was a quite understandable: "MS won't allow WD to run with any other AV program running." Got that. But...
Malwarebytes has a procedure that puts MBAM under WD's radar, and the two very much coexist. As soon as I added Spybot to the mix... WD said no way. So... what the heck did MBAM do that Spybot can't or hasn't done?
Let the fun begin...

MBAM Support said:[/...]Please do the following to reinstall Malwarebytes in a proper way:
Make sure, that your Antivirus software (Norton, Avast, Kaspersky… ect.) is switched off or uninstalled during the whole process!
If you can run Malwarebytes 3.0 make sure, that the Selfe-Protection module is disabled. Settings —> Protection —> scroll down to “Enable self-protection…”, slide the switch to “Off”.
If you can not run Malwarebytes 3.0, continue this workaround.
1. Uninstall Version 3.0 from the Windows control panel —> uninstall programs
2. Run our clean uninstaller tool mbam_clean.exe, you can download from this link below:
https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean
3. Restart your computer and download the newest version from here:
https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3/
Proceed with the installation after uninstalling the previous version.
Note: If you get an error message about a file, which can not be replaced, click on “IGNORE”.
Restart your machine and test whether the issues persist.[/...]
