problems to run the updater
Using SpyBot 1.6.2.46, Windows Vista SP2.
Whether I run spybot just as user or as administrator I cannot update.
as a user - after launching Spybot, if I click on "Update" in the left-hand menu, OR on the "search for updates" button, nothing happens.
If I use the "run as administrator" option in Vista, and launch Spybot, then as it loads a second window opens saying:
"please select some update files from the list first"
I do not actually see the list of servers from which to select the updates or the list of updates ( used to use Spybot a lot in the past under XP, but I only recently downloaded the latest version for this new computer.)
OCCASIONALLY, the updater runs normally, but usually it behaves as above. Any ideas??
thanks,
Colin

Hello,
It seems to be a problem with the compatibility under Windows Vista.
You can solve the problem as follows:
1. Download this new SDUpdate.exe.
To use this beta file, extract the downloaded archive into the main application folder (usually C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\) and replace the old file with the new one.
2. If this does not help go to your SDUpdate.exe file in your program folder:
C:\Program Files\ Spybot - Search & Destroy\
Rightclick the file and choose properties.
Then choose the tab compatibilty.
There activate the checkbox in front of "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select from the drop down menu "WindowsXP". Now click "Apply" and "OK".
That should fix the problem.
This problem has also been discussed in our forum.

Thanks Sandra - problem resolved.
I thought it must have come up begfore, but I tried a search of the forums and did not find it. I guess I used the wrong search terms.
Thanks again.
