Acid 3 Test Comparison

I just decided to do a comparison of the new (well it is not really new!) acid 3 test between firefox 2 and internet explorer 7. :FF:

First here is the reference rendering (what it is supposed to look like)

Here is the internet explorer 7 rendering:

As you can see, it bares very little resemblance to the reference rendering.

Here is the firefox 2 rendering:

It shows more resemblance to the reference rendering than internet explorer 7, but again it is not rendered very well :FF:

At least it rendered the test better than internet explorer!

Firefox 3 beta 3

As an extra I will show how firefox 3 beta 3 renders the acid 3 test:

acid3firefox3beta3.png

Out of all the browsers tested here so far, firefox 3 beta 3 renders the test the best, but it still has a loooong way to go :red: (59/100)

I've took a Acid 3 test(I've used IE 6 SP2), but the result is different between IE 6 SP2 and IE 7.The result is 11~12/100.

Thanks, and here is the Internet Explorer 6 pic

Thanks for the image of the IE6 rendering , I will post here aswell:

Acid3-IE6SP2.jpg

As you can see the Internet Explorer 6 rendering appears to be better than the Internet Explorer 7, a likely reason for this is because Interent Explorer 7 blocked the initilization of some tests (as shown in Internet Explorer 7 post)

** :) Thanks to Tom.K for the image! :) **

Safari and Konqueror both conquer (excuse the pun!) - But not for long

Yes, that seems to be the case - Safari and Konqueror both conquered (excuse the pun!) the acid 2 test, so it seems right that they score highly in the acid 3 test.

Well...the exception to the rule is Internet Explorer 8 who passed the acid 2 test, but failed the acid 3 test (but I suppose it is still a beta! - Im still a little (alot) biased towards Firefox :FF:)

I bet that the IE 8 developers were a little annoyed, as all their hard work to pass the acid 2 test were slightly dampened by the release of the acid 3 test, around 3 months after they passed it

I use a few browsers. IE 5.5 (Which was no longer supported for Windows 98, only Windows Me and up updates for it.) And FireFox 2.0.0.12. The only Browser which was last supported for Windows 98SE was 6. Which I have never used on my system, except in Me.

I tried out two other browsers: The World Browser, it turns out to be a very nice FireFox like shell for the IE engine. It's not Firefox in looks or feel. Just some features like and more. I have since uninstalled it.

There is another browser which it seems to be based on the same browser engine as FireFox, its called K-Meleon. If failed the acid3 test just as FireFox did.

k-meleon

ah yes, k-meleon the speed demon!

I like it due to the fact you do not need to install it (and because it fast!)

But, it lacks the features that other browsers have, so I don't use it as my primary one.

It is still very useful, as you can run it on a pen drive (or memory sticks, as we call them here in the UK), even without needing to install portable apps

Firefox 3 beta 5

Firefox 3 beta 5 has been released so here's how it did on the acid 3 test:

I have to congratulate Firefox :FF: - 71/100 is a great score, especially for a beta! :cowboy:

Opera 9.52

Neither Opera 9.52 nor IE5.5 can upload attachments to this forum. Only Firefox 2.0.0.17 works correctly here.

Here is the image/attachment of Opera 9.52:

70/100 is the result in Firefox 3.0.1 (I've accidentally ran the test without disabling NoScript and AdBlock Plus first, but there is no change), but if you are in offline mode, the result fails with 51/100.
Strange is that Firefox 3.0.1 has lower result than Firefox 3 beta 5 and it seems that Firefox 3.0.1 passes the Linktest while Firefox 3 beta 5 does not.
Result for Firefox 3.0.1:

Result for Safari 3.1.2: 74/100
See attachment.

P.S. Look at post #9 and check the link. Safari 4.0 beta has passed 100/100 in less than 1 second!
