Acid 3 Test Comparison

I know Firefox is a very good browser. But currently it has two unpatched secerity issues. (But then I should talk runing Windows 98SE.)

Opera 9.61 as of today has no unpatched security issues. http://secunia.com/advisories/product/10615

Why not download Opera and give it a try. http://www.opera.com/download/

Very true...If I recall I have a ramble on this subject somewhere...

As for Opera - I did try it when 9.6 first came out (and Im writing this with 9.61 now :p:)

I quite like it - very snappy (although another browser is slightly faster imho. It's name starts with the 3rd letter of the alphabet and it's source project is an element in the periodic table - get the drift?)

Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 scores 93/100

Haven't posted in a long time... :red:

Been pretty busy building, hacking, folding@'variousplaces', breaking ect stuff - pretty fun :p: (and a bit of GTA IV PC on the new pc)

Firefox 3.1 beta 2 scores 93/100! Nearly there! :FF:

I heard Opera 10 alpha owned everyone else >_<. A perfect score.

And Apple Safari 4 seems to be a rumor, maybe in private testing.

Chrome gets a near perfect score!

Yeah

Safari 4 is all 'hush hush' at the moment :fear:

Anyway, I read that Chrome was now using a more recent version of Webkit (currently only in the Dev weekly builds) which should technically boost it's score too 100/100. To see, I downloaded the latest version 2.0.158.0 et voila, a near perfect score! :bigthumb: 100/100 but, LINKTEST FAILED.

The weekly Dev builds are buggy - I mean, really buggy. So take care!

Weird.
You can try to click on A letter in Acid3 text. It should show the more detailed test.
Is Google Chrome finally "privacy-implication" free?

Yeah, very* 'alpha' with excessive use of 'rough implementation' ect ect

*or should I say a 'true alpha'. These days everything has a beta label strapped across its glossy web 2.0 lowercase logo.

V2 does add much missed autoscroll (which came bundled with the new version of Webkit). If you can cope with sites not rendering properly, half your titlebar being cut off the screen, crashes every 15 mins, your browser history ending up on Google's intranet, and hallucinations of pink elephants - give Chrome v2 a go! If you can look past those minor niggles, and just think of one word - FAST, you'll be fine :bigthumb:

Just the word crash, would make me back away? Haha . Er, I like fast. But too fast is not good (for me). Like running, you go beyond your limit you trip and fall. But, can it be so fast that it goes beyond my Internet connection? Ah, it can go to the moon.

Safari 4 BETA for Windows 100/100

So much for hush hush, eh :crowned:

100/100 'nuff said

Personally imo I have found it to be pretty buggy, and the close button for each tab is on the wrong side (after being so used to Chrome)! And yes, those tabs are at the top of the screen...I suspect a little 'idea borrowing' here.

The final test for me is that im actually posting this in Google Chrome - not Apple Chr...err...I mean, Safari! The truth is that I find Chrome to be way more productive. More screen space for reading, smart auto-complete in the address bar (sorry I meant 'super bar') and of course, the speed. I have my ad-blocking, however crude, which ultimately means my Firefox is sitting gathering dust in the quick launch (nah I would banish him yet...)

To examine Apple's claims about how Safari is 'the world's fastest web browser': http://www.apple.com/safari/whats-new.html

IE8 is actually geared towards being more compliant to web standards. Yes, it completely fails the test, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get the thumbs up for conforming to other standards. And just look at Safari 4. It gets 100/100 but what a rubbish browser it is, especially in Windows.
