OK so I had to uninstall/ reinstall combofix a few times.It would'nt go any further tha the initial blue window.I left it alone for a while each time, but eventually on my last try I got the proper start-up messages.
During it's scan I had several Norton Popups, despite it's being disabled.I left them, but it was obvious that combofix was'nt proceeding until I selected the 'allow' function on Norton.It's still x'ed out now, so I'm not sure why it was bringing up any messages.
Combofix rebooted me system and there were several 'failure to initialize' popups to follow.Once again I left them but as I could see nothing was proceeding I 'okay-d' them and combofix ran to the end.
Once again I'm sorry for the trouble, and I really do appreciate your time and effort.

Read and follow the directions carefully.

1) Be positive TeaTimer is still disabled and do this.
Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.

Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat
to remove all entries set by TeaTimer (and preventing TeaTimer to restore them upon reactivation).

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log and tell me how the computer is running.

It booted up quicker than in some time.I did have some concern about teatimer as the instructions told me to uncheck it in 2 locations of spybot and I could only find it listed under 'resident' and not under 'system startup'.I left that unchecked as you said and here we are.

Since we have Recovery Console already installed, remove combofix, C:\qoobox\quarantine\ , Vundofix and the C:\Vundofix Backups\ folders and then run a last Kaspersky Online Scan using these settings. Expect a couple of infections because we still have to clean System Restore.

* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT

* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:

* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
