rt click the avast ball and do update>programs that will also get definitions
then open avast and schedule the boot time scan- reboot

post the log so we can check for false positives
Avast logs should be posted at the Avast forums, or member should follow procedure in our malware forum, thanks.
if you get a -gen (for generic) I'll ask you to upload to virus total so we can rule out FP's or send you to Malware Removal
For a second opinion you could try a Kaspersky on line scan
This will be for information only as Kaspersky will not remove anything
Glad this might not be a yet another windows update problem as that would be big
If Virustotal comes back positive or as a false positive could you zip it up, password protect, and e-mail to virus at avast.com with the password in the body of the e-mail and the link to the virustotal results
you might also upload to Jotti as Spybot will get results from there
