Automatic Scanning of Office 2000 Components

After installing Spybot on an older system (running Windows 98SE), Spybot automatically scans the components in the Office 2000 toolbar when I double left click the icon, versus opening the application, i.e. Word, as it did before installing Spybot. Interstingly, "Scan using Spbot - Search & Destory" appears at the top of the selection list when right clicking on the icon in the toolbar, whereas "Open" was always on top before installing Spybot.

Kindly note that I have Norton Antivirus on this system, and it never automatically did this, however, the option to scan the component in the toolbar was always there by right clicking on the icon, and then selecting "Scan with Norton AntiVirus."

I have searched the Help files for Spybot, and do not see a way to alter this automatic configuration. I also do not see how to move the selection "Scan using Spybot - Search & Destroy" down lower in the slection list when right clicking on the icon, so that "Open" appears on the top of the list. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.

Dr. Bill:

To disable the "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" feature in Spybot 1.6, see this post by Zer0 Voltage in:
If you would like the feature still installed, try disable and then re-enable it and see of that puts the "Scan using Spybot-Search&Destroy" option below the open. If that does not work, try to uninstall and reinstall Spybot. That worked for Un Claudio de la vida in this thread:

Resolution to Automatic checking of Office 2000 Components

Please accpet my thanks for your suggestions. The only way that I was able to resolve the problem was by uninstalling and then reinstalling Spybot, this time unchecking the "Explorer file scan plugin" option during reinstallation. By doing this, "Scan with Spybot - Search & Destroy" does not even appear as a selection in the drop-down list upon right clicking the components in the Office 2000 toolbar. Again, thank-you - it is nice to have things back to normal.
