Hi I am facing 2 issues -
First I was not being able to turn on the Automatic Updates. An alert balloon was on all the time telling me that my Automatic updates are not turned on and if I click on "Turn on Automatic Updates" in the security center I get the following message "We're sorry. The Security Center could not chage your Automatic Update setting. To try changing these settings yourself, go to System n Ctrl Panel. On the Automatic Updates tab, select Automatic and then click Ok." But that option was already selected to be "Automatic".
I searched more and found that the Service for automatic Updates is disabled. I tried setting it to Automatic and clicked Appy, Still the service didnt show automatic instead of disabled. Also all the options of Start / Stop etc are greayed out. So I wasn't able to do anything.
I am using e-Trust Antivirus. Few days back I got 2 viruses - Some AMVO (or RAVMON) and recently Vundo!
It says that the infected files are deleted.
I also tried running SmitFraudFix, SmitRem, Vundobegone and Vundofix as found on some forums. But still the same problem of automatic update being disabled was there. Moreover other problems I then face were -
1. The system became too slow.
2. I used to get some buffer overrun problem (MS Visual something)
3. I cant search using google or any searcg engine...Sometime it works and sometimes it just hangs..
4. I got various pop ups all the time to remove malware / spyware.
Then today I came across this forum and in thought of posting here for help/ The prerequisited for that were to run Spybot, Kaspersky AV online and Hijack This.
I ran the Kaspersky and Spybot as advised and fixed all the problems. Since then thankfully I got rid of the automatic update disabled problem. I am able to turn on the service and get an update from Microsoft.
But the only problem is that if I search with Spybot, It still shows that there is a dll infected with Virtumondo. I fix it and it comes back again.
The Second Issue is the Hidden files and folder radio button being disabled.I tried removing the RAVMON virus (I was not able to see the hidden files) and changed the registry settings as per some forum and since then I am able to see the hidden files and folders but the radio button which is in Folder options to show / hide the hidden files is not working sincve then. If I click on that button to show hidden files and folders, it changes to do not show the hidden files and folders on its own. I again have to go and change the registry to see the hidden files.
Please help me with these two problems. I just want to clean my system completely from these viruses..

Let me know what more information I need to provide. Thanks a lot in advance!
