I copied all my personal folders over to the clean HDD before I ran the scan. While I was doing this, AVG picked up two files as being infected on opening: srosa.sys and hdlrrr.exe. It said it got rid of them.

This is the mbam log: F is the infected drive, but I do think that might be a false positive - that's not a windows program, it's a windows mobile program that's sitting in the directory with the backup of my phone.

Yes, that is false positive.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

The computer still wont let me boot from that HDD, but if it is clean at least then I suppose that's a much better situation than it could be!

Well if it won't let to boot from it then we can't be sure that it's clean.

I suggest that you keep using it as slave in another computer unless you want to reformat it.
