Jeff,

This also happens when I open Internet Explorer. I rarely use IE so if I have to delete it I could...but I'd rather fix this annoying pop up/.

Hi C/D,

You can disable the Drive Letter Access add-on in IE8 by clicking Tools then Manage Add-ons. Find the Drive Letter Access add-on in the list, right click it, and then click Disable.

Let me know if that fixes it. :) That is usually associated with a CD-Burner program like Roxio or Sonic.

Jeff,

No matter which option on the pop up I leave checked or unchecked I get an error message. I attached the error message.

Hi C/D,

Try going to the website here and scroll down to the Microsoft Fix It button and press Run Now. Once that completes, reboot your system and then see if the problems are still there.

Hi CD,

The error message you are receiving seems to be related to the Sonic Solutions software you have on your system. Sonic Solutions addons seem to be incompatible with IE 8.

You could try to run IE8 with no add-ons.

You can do that by clicking on Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer 8 (No Add-ons).

Hi CD

We should probably run sfc /scannow.

Open a Command Prompt > copy/paste sfc /scannow into the command prompt and then press Enter.

Once that has completed, reboot your system and let me know if you are still having the problems. :)

Hi CaddyDaddy,

Please download HD Tune (the free version not the trial), run an error scan on your primary harddrive (full not quick) and report back if any blocks aren't green. It tests your hard drive for bad sectors.

Jeff,
I ran the utility 3 times. My computer would crash and blue screen towards the end of the run, about 50 minutes into it.

I attached a screen shot about 2 minutes before it did the crash.

Also I attached screen shots of what the Error said.....

But in case you cannot read the shots I typed below.

Get Blue Screen then Computer reboots itself. Then a Windows message pop up says,

“The system has recovered from a serious error.
A log has been created.
For more information about this error. click here”
I click and it says,
“Error signature
BCCode: d1 BCP1: 00000010 BCP2: 00000002 BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: F7B791A0 OSVer: 5_1_2600 SP: 3_0 Product: 768_1
To view technical information about this error report. click here”

I click and it says,
The following files will be included in this error report.
C\DOCUME~1\Hal\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER749d.dir00\Mini111311-01.dmp
C\DOCUME~1\Hal\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER749d.dir00\sysdata.xml

Hi CaddyDaddy,

I am not seeing any malware in the logs you have provided. I think that this may be a problem with Windows itself. I think that you could be better helped by going here and posting a new topic there. Be sure to post a link to this topic so that they can see what we have done here. If they look over everything and believe it still may be malware related we can dig deeper. :)

Once you finish up over there, come back here and we can do some updates, remove our tools and then I will give you some good information on keeping your system more secure.

Since this issue appears to be resolved ... this Topic has been closed. Glad we could be of assistance.

If you are the topic starter, and need this topic reopened, please contact a staff member with the address of the thread.
