g'day lonny, i have not yet had a chance to work through the host file links, but my pc is running sweet!

just a quick question, ive run spybot, ad-aware and avg and they cant detect any threats, but spyware doctor free scanner detects a long list of stuff, now i think its just because they want me to buy their product and im thinking about removing the programe, what do u think?

right, ive done that host file stuff and installed "hosts secure" for updates and ive installed windows defender

now so far my security is made up of spybot, ad-aware, windows defender, spyware blaster, avg free, and zone alarm firewall, hows that sound?

is there anything else i should do?

Sounds great
You can run a check for problems with all of them (one at a time) but Only use one anytispyware's resident protection at a time. If you dont understand i can explain a bit further/better :) .

Correct, also turn off all but ones resident protection

Im partial to SpyBots Tea timer so lets turn off ms's
This is for an older version but should still be somewhat acurate, Ill have to check later
Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

The free version of ad-aware doesnt have real time protection so no worry there.

g'day lonny, ive unticked "real time protection" for defender, and all scans are clean apart from the odd "MRU list" detected with ad-aware but i dont think this is unusual is it? im not getting pop-ups ect, i think im set-up!

once again thanks for the help with "command service" and thanks for the additional security advice!

:D

Im not to familur with ad-aware mru checks

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let Me or Tashi know.
