cant get auto-update to work

Just joined the forum, been using spybot for a while. When I first started using it everything worked great, but recently, the auto-update function won't work, I have to down load manually, does this mean I have a unwanted friend that slipped past spybot? I haven't noticed a slowdown on the machine.
any help would be appreciated

Go into Spybot > Update (left pane) > click the "Show log" button (right pane). Is there anything in the update log that indicates why the update is failing?
