Can't run or remove/uninstall S&D

I was having the same problem as everyone else with the long scan times. I uninstalled S&D, then downloaded it again, updated it. When I try to run a scan now I get an error message "you need to install the detection updates first by using the integrated....." Now I want to uninstall it, but Add/Delete programs says it can't locate it. When I try to manually remove it, I can delete everything but the SDHelperdll, which says I can't access it. Any help would be appreciated.

The first problem that you encountered is because you did not update Spybot during the installation process or by using the integrated update facility after the installation. You then attemped run a scan and received the message to do the updates.

The problem that you encountered attempting to uninstall Spybot was caused because you activated Spybot's Internet Explorer's Browser Helper Object (BHO) and did not inactivate it by going into Spybot > Immunize and unchecking "Enable permanent blocking of bad addresses in Internet Explorer" before attempting to uninstall.

SDhelper.dll is used Spybot's Internet Explorer's Browser Helper Object (BHO) and you have to stop all Internet Explorer sessions before attempting to delete the C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy folder.
